Sunspots, age spots, and “liver” spots are brown spots (hyperpigmentation) that can appear on the sun-exposed skin of your face, chest, hands, arms, and legs. These spots can occur at any age and with all individual skin types. We safely and effectively remove these spots by selectively targeting the brown pigment with the Gentle Lase laser. It delivers light energy pulses that break down the dark pigment in the skin causing it to disperse and eventually clear and even out the skin’s tone.
After the initial treatment, skin spots may appear darker for up to a week. Mild crusting may appear over the treated area. Patients can expect to have anywhere from 1 to 4 treatments, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart depending on the severity of sun damage.
Guidelines
- *Avoid sun exposure for 7 days before and after treatment
- *No chemical tans can be applied prior to treatments
- *Do not take any photosynthesizing medications during treatment
- *Patients with active infections cannot be treated
